Terms of use

Last updated: October 16, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and CoPublisher AI LLC ("CoPublisher", "we", "us"), which owns and operates CoPublisher AI: the website, the News Monitor, the Content Editor, the mobile apps, the browser extension and the emails and alerts they send (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you sign up on behalf of a newsroom or company, you agree for it too and confirm you're allowed to.

If your newsroom has a separate signed agreement with us, that agreement wins where the two differ.

1. Accounts and seats

2. Your content

Your newsroom owns what it writes, uploads, imports and creates in CoPublisher: drafts, articles, transcripts, recordings, photos, notes, house style, beat settings and the AI-assisted copy produced for you ("your content"). You give us a limited permission to store, copy, process and display your content only to run the service for you, keep it secure and fix problems. We don't sell your content, and we don't show one newsroom's content to another newsroom.

Only upload or connect material you have the right to use, including photos, audio and other outlets' work.

3. What we own

CoPublisher AI LLC owns the service and everything in it except your content. That includes the software and source code, the apps and browser extension, the design, layout, look and feel, screens and workflows, the AI instructions and prompts, the way stories are found, rated, scored and ranked, the beat-profile, house-style and voice-matching methods, the setup templates, the documentation, and the names CoPublisher and CoPublisher AI and our logos. They're protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret and other laws.

While your account is in good standing, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your newsroom's own work, under these terms and your plan. We keep every right we don't expressly give you. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of the service, or any part of it, to you.

4. Combined, anonymous data

We may collect and use data about how the service is used and performs, such as story ratings, which stories and alerts performed, timing and audience patterns and feature usage, and combine it across newsrooms in a form that doesn't identify you, your newsroom or any person. We own that combined data and may use it to run, improve and develop the service and to publish general findings and benchmarks. It never includes your articles or other content in a form anyone could recognize.

5. Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback, we may use them for any purpose without owing you anything. Your feedback doesn't give you any rights in the service.

6. What you may not do

You may not, and may not help or allow anyone else to:

7. Confidentiality

Anything about the service that we haven't made public is our confidential information, whether you see it in the app, in a demo, an email or a conversation: unreleased features, roadmaps, how features work behind the screen, prompts, scoring, pricing or terms offered to you, and the non-public parts of the service itself. Use it only to use the service for your newsroom, don't share it with anyone outside your newsroom's team who needs it to use the service, and protect it at least as carefully as your own confidential information. This doesn't cover information that's already public through no fault of yours, that you already knew or got lawfully from someone else without a confidentiality duty, or that you developed on your own. You may disclose it if the law or a court requires, after telling us when you're allowed to.

This duty lasts while you use the service and for five years after, and for as long as the information remains a trade secret. We keep your newsroom's non-public content and data confidential the same way, as our privacy policy describes.

8. AI-assisted work

CoPublisher uses AI to find and rate news, draft and edit copy, transcribe audio, check facts and suggest ideas. AI can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check facts, names, quotes and sources before you publish. You decide what to publish and are responsible for it. Your content is sent to the AI providers we use only to produce your results. A newsroom's publisher can turn off AI-written copy.

9. Other services you connect

Some features work with services you connect, such as analytics, social media, photo, email, publishing and transcription accounts. Those services have their own terms, and you're responsible for following them and having the rights to what you bring in. We aren't responsible for those services, and features that rely on them can change or stop if the service changes.

10. Plans, trials and payment

11. Ending

You can stop using CoPublisher and delete your account any time (Preferences › Your account). We may suspend or end an account or newsroom that breaks these terms, puts the service or other people at risk, or doesn't pay, and we'll tell you when we reasonably can. When your access ends, your right to use the service ends too. Ask within 30 days and we'll help you get a copy of your newsroom's content; after that we may delete it as our privacy policy describes. Sections 2 to 7 and 12 to 16 continue after access ends.

12. No warranties

We work to keep CoPublisher available, secure and accurate, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, and we don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that it will catch every story.

13. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, CoPublisher AI LLC and its owners, staff and suppliers aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, audience or goodwill, even if told they were possible. Our total liability for anything relating to the service or these terms is limited to the greater of what your newsroom paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100. These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them.

14. Your responsibility to us

You'll defend and cover CoPublisher AI LLC against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come from your content, what your newsroom publishes, the services you connect, or your breaking these terms or the law.

15. Protecting the service

Breaking sections 1, 3, 6 or 7 could cause us harm that money can't fully fix. If that happens or is about to, we may ask a court to stop it right away, in addition to any other remedy, without having to post a bond where the law allows.
